In this section we will show you a list of resources, that will help you grow your retouching business.
Every single resource on this page is something that we personally used or currently use in our own businesses.
Please be aware that these things will support your business, but not make or break it! Everything will eventually come down to your own effort.
Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard retouching software. It comes at a relatively low price of about 10$ / month for the photography plan, which also includes Adobe Lightroom – a RAW converter.
I have been working with Photoshop since before my retouching business even started and frankly, there is no viable alternative.
Capture One is my RAW converter of choice. The color processor in this software is incredible and I figured, that this is the RAW convertor that most people in the industry use.
It allows me to create and optimise a workflow that suits me the best.
The Retouching Toolkit is a Photoshop add-on created by Conny Wallström.
I have been using it for over 4 years and I don’t want to miss it. The Toolkit with it’s several add-ons makes work easier, quicker and therefore more profitable.
One of the most important tools in a retoucher’s belt is an accurate screen.
My personal choice is Eizo’s Color Edge line. In my opinion, this is the only real option for professionals as other screens may compare in terms of color range, but likely not when it comes to uniformity.
